It was recently reported that Frenkie de Jong’s absence from training was related to some personal issues. However, the Dutchman recently returned to Barcelona training, and it appears likely that he will be available for the upcoming game against Levante.
Still, while his availability does not seem to be too much of an uncertainty, his starting role certainly is. After all, the Dutchman’s irregular presence in training could make Hansi Flick assess whether or not some other player could start in his stead.

According to AS, that could prove to be a good opportunity for Spanish midfielder Gavi. The 19-year-old player had performed well during preseason, and this could now be his opportunity to start in La Liga.
After all, competition in the squad this season is intense, so any chance is worth taking for any player wanting to make a name for themselves. Gavi, especially after the difficult season he had in the previous campaign as a result of his recovery, should welcome such an opportunity.
While a final decision will depend on Flick himself, AS reports that the uncertainty surrounding De Jong starting the next game could be beneficial to Gavi.
After all, he seems to be higher in the pecking order when compared to Marc Casado, and Marc Bernal is still in recovery and is not expected to return before September.
