The Jeremy Monga transfer saga at Leicester City is continuing to rumble on...

A fresh update has emerged on the ongoing transfer saga involving Leicester City prodigy Jeremy Monga, with an increasing number of clubs accelerating their efforts to lure the in-demand winger away from the King Power Stadium ahead of the January transfer window.

Monga has established his reputation as one of the most promising and sought-after young talents in the country, and the speculation surrounding his future at Leicester is only intensifying as we edge ever closer to next month's mid-season transfer window.

Still aged just 16, Monga has already appeared on 14 occasions for the Foxes in all competitions throughout the 2025/26 campaign to date, with the prodigious wide-man opening his professional account by finding the back of the net in a 2-1 defeat at Preston North End back in August.

Though still far from a regular starter under Marti Cifuentes in a Leicester side which has struggled for consistent form in the Championship this season, Monga's reputation - and, in turn, the interest in his services - is only growing further, and admirers are now making serious moves to speed to the front of the race for a deal.

As per a fresh report from TEAMtalk on Monday afternoon, Premier League pair Chelsea and Manchester City have emerged as the frontrunners to prise Monga away from Leicester following the turn of the year.

The heavyweight duo are reportedly paying close attention to the situation of Monga, who has been linked with a flurry of top clubs in recent times.

Just last week, TEAMtalk reported that Tottenham Hotspur had been making a "big push" to sign the teenage sensation amid interest from the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City, Manchester United and Newcastle along with continental outfits in Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

That report detailed that Monga is poised to make a decision on his future early next year, with the rising Foxes star having signed a scholarship contract over the summer which includes a professional clause once he celebrates his 17th birthday next July.

However, according to the most recent update, Chelsea and Man City now appear to have made potential headway in the battle for Monga's much-courted signature and are said to each be lining up "spectacular moves" in a bid to land the England youth international ahead of a clutch of domestic and continental rivals.

It remains to be seen whether Monga will be departing Leicestershire as early as January, although his future is sure to leave the Foxes' top-brass sweating as they look to fend off ever-mounting interest elsewhere.

It does appear somewhat inevitable that Monga will be leaving Leicester before too long, be that next month or once the summer rolls around. Either way, the tricky winger is destined for the very top and the evident recognition of that from so many leading outfits across the continent means that the Foxes need to make the most of him while he's still there.

Monga, of course, is still raw, and his lengthy list of admirers will be observing the potential as opposed to the present product. Nonetheless, though, he has offered fleeting signs of real positivity and excitement, with his tricky feet, pace and willingness to take risks and try to make things happen in an often-dysfunctional Foxes forward line should encourage Cifuentes to offer more opportunities.

The 16-year-old has featured 13 times in the Championship, but only five of those have been starts.

With Monga having provided the same number of direct goal contributions as Stephy Mavididi, who has managed just two strikes in an underwhelming season for the ex-Arsenal prospect, it's hard to feel that he doesn't deserve more game-time as Leicester's inconsistencies continue to linger.
