Both picked up a knock in the defeat at Eintracht Frankfurt

Marco Friedl and Julian Malatini both ended the opening game of the new Bundesliga season at Eintracht Frankfurt with a knock. Team doctor Dr. Philip Heitmann examined the two defenders on Sunday.

Marco Friedl’s MRI scan showed damage to his medical collateral ligament in his knee.

Julian Malatani, meanwhile, suffered an ankle ligament injury.

“Our medical team will do all they can this week, but we’ll have to wait and see if both players are fit to face Leverkusen. Even though we are currently dealing with several setbacks, we‘ll prepare the team as best we can this week to get a positive result from our first home game of the season,” explained head coach Horst Steffen.
