From Luque to La Ribera: CONMEBOL green-lights Boca's new keeper

A hard blow for the “Xeneize”: it was confirmed that Agustín Marchesín suffered a torn cruciate ligament in his right knee. With this long-term absence, doubts arose over whether the club can sign a goalkeeper for the end of the Copa Libertadores group stage.

CONMEBOL regulations support Boca. To register a new signing, the club must submit the medical reports in Luque. The rules allow goalkeepers to be replaced due to a serious injury at any stage of the tournament, as long as the process is completed up to 24 hours before the next match. The new goalkeeper must inherit Marchesín’s squad number and must not have played the group stage for another team in this edition. At the local level, the AFA would also grant an extra spot because the recovery time exceeds four months.
