However the story could change next summer when it is likely that a bigger number of managers are available. And there is a report which suggest that Liverpool are ready to consider a caretaker role until the end of the season should the situation deteriorate.
That man is Steven Gerrard - Liverpool’s Champions League-winning captain from 2005 and all-round club legend. Gerrard, 45, has not worked as a manager since leaving Saudi side Al-Ettifaq earlier this year.
No doubt it would be a dream for the ex-midfielder to manage his beloved Reds - albeit on a temporary basis until a permanent successor to Slot is announced.
“Liverpool are considering appointing Steven Gerrard as interim manager in a sensational new manager twist,” the report reads. “Gerrard‘s name is believed to have been internally “discussed” at Liverpool as one possibility, with the idea that he could take over until the end of the season.
“In that scenario, a permanent manager would be appointed next summer when there will be a bigger pool of managers to choose from.”

Gerrard’s managerial successes have so far come at Rangers in Scotland - where he won the Premiership title in 2021.
Since then he has worked at both Aston Villa and in Saudi Arabia without the same kind of success - but could be handed the opportunity to reestablish his managerial credentials in the Anfield hotseat.
Arne Slot you have been warned - FSG will not be afraid to make a change and install Gerrard if the situation requires it.
