Timber was heavily involved in the Arsenal squad’s Premier League title celebrations
Arsenal supporters have a theory that Jurrien Timber will be fit for the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain.
Timber has not featured for Arsenal since the 2-0 win over Everton on March 14 when he was substituted in the first half, subsequently missing the last 13 games in all competitions.
The defender did travel with the Gunners squad to the London Stadium for the 1-0 win over West Ham, standing on the pitch ahead of kick-off as his team-mates warmed up around him.
However, amid fears the Dutchman will not play again this season, Mikel Arteta delivered an update before the 1-0 win over Burnley.
“He wanted to be very close to the team,” Arteta told reporters. “He's progressed a little bit in the last few days. We're going to try to get him fit and available as quickly as possible, but let’s see.
“He's been out for a while, unfortunately. He's such an important player for us. We all know that and he's doing everything he can to help the team in any capacity.
“We know his leadership, his quality and how much the team needs him.”
On Tuesday evening when Arsenal posted video footage of their players gathering to celebrate winning the Premier League title, supporters noticed Timber moving around freely.
As a result, some fans are growing in confidence that the 24-year-old might just be winning his battle to be fit for the Budapest showpiece on May 30.
Arteta is expected to deliver a further update on Timber when he previews Arsenal’s final game of the Premier League season against Crystal Palace later this week.
In Timber’s lenghty absence, the right-back duties have been shared by Ben White and Cristhian Mosquera.
Though, with White now ruled out for the remainder of the season with a knee injury, it would appear that Mosquera is most likely to start the Champions League final if Timber does not prove his fitness.
