Gabigol hits back at fitness claims and urges unity at Santos | OneFootball

Gabigol has rejected claims about his fitness and called for unity at Santos after a social media post on Thursday.

The player said in a post that talk of a physical deficit was misinformation, citing club data placing him among the leading players for sprints and distance in recent matches, and urged unity instead of blame or media-driven rows.

He also appealed to supporters ahead of the next outing, saying a home win on Sunday is needed.

Santos host Red Bull Bragantino at Vila Belmiro on Sunday, 10, at 18:30 in the 15th round of the Brasileirão. Gabigol is expected to start.

Individually, he is Santos’ leading scorer in 2026 with nine goals and four assists from 20 appearances.

The team are on a poor run, with one win in their last 10 and seven without victory, and sit bottom of Copa Sudamericana Group D while hovering near the relegation zone. They have 15 points in 16th place, level on points with Corinthians, the first club in the Z-4.
