Santos crushed Velo Clube 6-0 in the Paulistão, with Gabigol scoring twice on his return to the starting XI. Moisés, Gabriel Menino, Thaciano and substitute Rollheiser also found the net as Neymar featured from the bench.

Gabigol struck early from Barreal’s excellent corner, then created Moisés’s goal with a precise pass. Menino added a stunning long-range effort into the top corner.

Thaciano finished from Gabriel Bontempo’s pass, and Rollheiser came on and scored quickly. Gabigol added a second late on and was named man of the match.

Neymar entered at half-time and showed class with incisive passing and movement, including a first-time ball that sent Gabigol through on goal. He looked short of rhythm and laboured when tracking back, and he blazed over from inside the box on 72 minutes. Arão, easing back from injury, offered poise in midfield before making way early in the second half, with Rony and Miguelito adding energy late on.
