Gabriel Gudmundsson has played down reported interest from Chelsea, insisting he is content at Leeds United.
“But it’s nice that they see me as an alternative and it’s a sign that something good has been done, then we’ll see what happens but I’m happy where I am.” Sport Witness reports that he made the comments.
The 27-year-old has just completed his first Leeds season, extended by a World Cup with Sweden in which he played all four matches to reach the last-32 before a 3-0 defeat to France. Since joining in a £10million move last July, he has made 48 appearances for club and country and recently became a first-time father.
He settled quickly after arriving from France, shining as an attacking wing-back whose tireless left-sided runs and work-rate made him a favourite at Elland Road.
“Everything is so professional,” he added. “We have enjoyed ourselves since the first second we got there so we are very happy with the choice and are looking forward to what is to come.”
“Hand on heart I can say that the Leeds fans are the best in England and they have supported us in a really good way this season. I don’t think you understand how big the club is until you are in it.”
