Gabriel Martinelli hails Flamengo’s Libertadores title and sends message to Jorginho | OneFootball

Gabriel Martinelli has expressed delight at Flamengo’s fourth Libertadores triumph over Palmeiras in 2025, also referencing Jorginho.

“Eu fiquei muito feliz com o título da Libertadores do Flamengo do ano passado por alguns motivos. Estou falando sério, eu fiquei bastante feliz. Ainda mais com o Jorginho lá ainda”, he said, speaking to CazéTV.

A declared Corinthians supporter, Martinelli sided with Flamengo in the decider against Palmeiras in Lima, Peru, because of the rivalry between the clubs.

He is close to Jorginho after their time together at Arsenal. The forward, who is in contention to represent the Seleção Brasileira at the 2026 World Cup, showed his Rubro-Negro side in this dispute.

With Jorginho on the pitch, Flamengo and Palmeiras met to determine which Brazilian team would hold the most Libertadores titles. Arrascaeta delivered a corner for Danilo, whose header beat Carlos Miguel to seal the trophy for Mengão.

Chasing a fifth Libertadores crown, Flamengo face Independiente Medellín (COL) on Thursday (16) in the second round at the Maracanã, kick-off 21h30 Brasília time.
