Gabriel Menino expected to feature more at right back for Santos

Gabriel Menino is aiming to re-establish himself at Santos and is expected to feature more at right back after Mayke’s departure.
According to Diario Do Peixe, he spent the first half of the year in midfield but, after talks with coach Cuca, could be used more regularly on the flank. He has previously played there and was called up by Brazil’s senior and youth teams as a right back.
Menino was tried at right back in a friendly against União São João and a training game with Osasco Sporting. He is in line to start on the right against Botafogo on Thursday 16 at 19:30, at Nilton Santos, in the 19th round of the Brasileirão.
He is fully recovered from a right hamstring injury sustained before the break. On loan from Atlético-MG from January until the end of the year, he has 15 appearances and two goals for Santos. In the Paulistão he scored against Velo Clube across six matches, in the Brasileiro he netted against Chapecoense and has eight rounds played, plus one Copa do Brasil tie.
Born in Morungaba, São Paulo state, he turns 26 in September. He came through Guarani then Palmeiras, earned Brazil Under-20 and Under-23 recognition, reached the senior squad in 2020 and won Olympic gold at Tokyo 2021.
For Palmeiras he made 241 appearances with 17 goals and 18 assists, winning the Libertadores in 2020 and 2021, the Copa do Brasil in 2020, the Brasileirão in 2022 and 2023, the Recopa Sul-Americana in 2022, the Supercopa do Brasil in 2023 and several Paulistão titles. At Atlético-MG he has one goal and two assists in 45 games and won the Mineiro in 2025.
