Rodrygo to Arsenal? Eyes on Real Madrid Star as Transfer Saga Unfolds

Gabriel Makes His Case

There are few transfer stories as tantalising as a Real Madrid star being wooed to north London. As reported by The Standard, Rodrygo has been told he can leave the Spanish giants this summer, and Arsenal are firmly in the mix. His fellow Brazilian and Arsenal defender Gabriel has added fuel to the speculation, calling Rodrygo a “phenomenon” and urging the club to act.

“I’d like [it] obviously,” Gabriel told Brazilian podcast PodPah. “He’s a phenomenon. I’ve told people already, he’s a phenomenon. If it was up to me, of course [I want him at Arsenal]!”

Madrid’s Changing Landscape

Rodrygo’s place at Real Madrid has come into question despite Xabi Alonso’s recent appointment. Two weeks ago, Alonso gave a diplomatic vote of confidence, saying, “He’s a Madrid player and I will have a conversation with everyone because we need to do so. We’ll get to know each other. He’s a spectacular player and we need him.”

That sentiment appears to have shifted. Reports from Spain claim Madrid are now open to selling, with Marca and Cadena SER citing a €90 million (£76.8m) asking price.

Negotiation Games Begin

Rodrygo still has three years left on his contract, which gives Madrid significant leverage. Arsenal’s intent may be genuine, especially after Nico Williams reportedly rejected a move to north London, favouring Barcelona or Bayern Munich.

With Arsenal actively seeking a wide forward, this could become one of the defining transfer tussles of the summer. As ever, timing, will and price will dictate whether Rodrygo ends up wearing red and white at the Emirates.

Our View – EPL Index

This feels like one of those moments where something big could actually happen. Rodrygo to Arsenal would be a statement of intent. We’ve seen talent come and go through the doors at the Emirates, but landing someone fresh out of the Real Madrid setup, and still just 23, would be next-level. Gabriel hyping him up publicly is not just friendly banter, it feels like part of a charm offensive to get him in.

Yes, £76.8m is a hefty fee, but in today’s market, that’s the going rate for Champions League-level flair. If Nico Williams has turned us down, then Edu and Arteta must go all-in on Rodrygo. His pace, trickery and big-game mentality could transform our right flank. It’s also nice to see Gabriel so vocal. This feels like a united squad wanting to compete for the biggest prizes and knowing what it takes to do it.

There’s always a worry Madrid change their mind or demand more, but we’ve got to be aggressive in the market. The Kroenkes have backed the team with funds. Now let’s use them wisely. Rodrygo in an Arsenal shirt next season? That’s the dream.
