Galatasaray have ended their pursuit of Manchester United playmaker Bruno Fernandes after costs proved prohibitive. The champions are now prioritising Eintracht Frankfurt prospect Can Uzun.
According to Fotomac, United set an initial €50 million price, with further salary, bonuses and add-ons pushing the total package beyond Galatasaray’s limits. Talks were also complicated by Fernandes being under contract until 2027.
Head coach Okan Buruk had made Fernandes a priority to diversify his attack next season. The board opted to halt negotiations to protect long-term finances and comply with UEFA financial sustainability rules.
With the marquee move shelved, recruitment has shifted towards younger profiles viewed as long-term investments. Uzun has been singled out, and staff are impressed by his versatility.
Uzun produced 10 goals and 6 assists in 28 appearances last season. Galatasaray have accelerated enquiries as they look to secure his signature before the new campaign.
