Galatasaray ‘in talks’ over Joao Gomes as Atletico move in doubt

Joao Gomes has yet to leave Wolves, and his proposed move to Atletico Madrid now appears uncertain amid fresh interest.

A post on X claimed Galatasaray are among the active clubs pursuing the Brazilian and have been in talks since January.

The post added Atletico reached a preliminary agreement with the player last month, but talks stalled after Wolves’ fee was considered too high. The Spanish club are said to be waiting for a lower price while exploring alternatives, with interest also present across Europe’s top five leagues.

Wolves are understood to be seeking about £40 million for Gomes.

There had previously been suggestions of an agreement in principle with Atletico worth roughly £39 million, but the picture could shift if competition intensifies or the asking price remains unchanged.
