Galatasaray have relayed their stance on a possible deal for Manchester City’s Ederson to negotiators at the Etihad Stadium, as per a new report.
The Turkish giants are keen on striking a deal with City for the 31-year-old goalkeeper, who is keen for a new challenge as he enters the final 12 months of his current deal at the Etihad Stadium.
Ederson failed to engineer a transfer to the Saudi Pro League last summer owing to Manchester City’s £50 valuation of the Brazil international but speculation around the six-time Premier League winner’s future has taken a new turn in the final weeks of the ongoing window.
Having stated publicly that his head remains at Manchester City, Ederson remains hopeful of an agreement between his current club and Galatasaray, who are understood to have agreed personal terms with the former Benfica man.
After being excluded from Manchester City’s travelling squad for their Premier League opening day victory away at Wolves last weekend, it remains to be seen what the final fortnight of the transfer window has in store for Ederson.
City do not wish to sell their number one goalkeeper and consider Ederson part of their plans for the 2025-26 campaign, having already overhauled their shotstopping department this summer with the acquisitions of James Trafford and Marcus Bettinelli.
However, should Ederson express a desire to leave and Galatasaray present an acceptable offer, Manchester City will reluctantly sanction a sale for the Brazilian, who is valued at €35 million at the Etihad Stadium.
Galatasaray submitted an opening formal bid worth around €10 million for Ederson last week, which is understood to have been swiftly rejected by Etihad Stadium bosses, who remain open to doing business for what they believe would be an acceptable offer for their number one goalkeeper.
Sabah have reported that Galatasaray are growing impatient in their pursuit of Ederson and are keen on Manchester City accepting their opening €10 million offer for the wantaway goalkeeper, who has given his go-ahead for the transfer, as relayed by Sport Witness.
The report states that Manchester City are holding out for a fee of €15 million, with Galatasaray ready to walk away from negotiations should their €10 million offer not be accepted by the end of the week.
After keeping a clean sheet in an impressive all-round display on his senior Manchester City debut, James Trafford is expected to retain his place as the club’s starting goalkeeper as Ederson’s future reaches a resolution.
It has further been mentioned that Ederson has agreed a three-year deal with Galatasaray, whose patience has been tested by Manchester City in negotiations and who will target Inter Milan’s Yann Sommer as an alternative should talks with City reach an impasse.
