Rafael Leao is weighing up a lucrative switch to Galatasaray, with the Istanbul club emerging as leading contenders for the AC Milan winger.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the Istanbul club have tabled a deal worth nearly double his current Milan salary, around 10 million a season plus bonuses.

The 26-year-old has endured an inconsistent, injury-hit campaign and his future has been under scrutiny after candid comments on international duty in Portugal before flying to the United States for the World Cup. He said he had given everything at Milan and wanted a new challenge in another league.

Any move could take time, with negotiations expected to stretch into late July or August. Milan are still seeking a new head coach and a sporting director, which complicates major decisions.

Galatasaray also need to free a foreign-player slot under Super Lig rules before they can lodge a formal bid.

Leao’s valuation has dipped with form, yet he remains a significant asset and, with only one bidder so far, Galatasaray could hold leverage. He has 31 appearances across all competitions this season, with 10 goals and three assists. A strong World Cup could attract rivals from Europe and drive up the price.
