The Blues came back from two-goals down at Stamford Bridge to win 3-2 and book our spot in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup final at Wembley later this month.
City were shell-shocked in the capital when Erin Cuthbert put Chelsea ahead via a deflection after just eight minutes, something that gave the home side a boost to their play and gave the visitors an uphill task.
Sam Kerr then headed in at the back post just before the hour mark, handing us a mountain to climb if we wished to reach Wembley, but Andrée Jeglertz rolled the dice, throwing Mary Fowler on to accompany Bunny Shaw at the top end of the pitch.
So, he will have been delighted when the Australian international found the back of the net from outside the area with a lovely turn and finish to pull City back into the game, before Shaw totally flipped the game on its head.
With the ball bouncing in the area and the game entering second-half added time, Shaw pulled out an acrobatic finish and found the bottom corner right in front of the travelling City fans to send the game into extra time.
The momentum was all with City, and Shaw came alive in the additional 30 minutes when she rose highest and ahead of Lucy Bronze to head home beyond Hannah Hampton and put City ahead for the first time in the match.
After a fantastic comeback against the current holders of the FA Cup, Jeglertz’s side have booked a date with Brighton & Hove Albion at Wembley on 31 May.
It allows City to end the season on an even bigger high, and potentially see Jeglertz end the campaign having completed a domestic double after being confirmed WSL champions earlier this week.
