Chelsea are working on signing Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United.
A year ago, Chelsea signed United’s out-of-favour winger Jadon Sancho in a loan deal with an obligation to buy.
However, this summer, the Blues backed out of the agreement by paying a penalty fee after Sancho refused to lower his wage demands to sign permanently for them.
Chelsea are now in the market for a new left-winger, and have set their sights on another out-of-favour United forward.
Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Chelsea have intensified their pursuit of Garnacho and “talks have now advanced” between the two clubs.
As per David Ornstein, a price of £70m has “previously been communicated” to the Argentina international’s suitors.
However, considering Garnacho’s fallout with Ruben Amorim and United’s desperation to sell, Chelsea are hoping to drive the asking price down. It remains to be seen if United will offer Chelsea a considerable discount.
Garnacho is still viewed as one of Europe’s most promising young wingers. He was directly involved in 21 goals in all competitions last season despite struggling to adapt to Amorim’s 3-4-3 system.
Amid this, Fabrizio Romano has given a very positive update regarding Garnacho’s future.
On his YouTube channel, the Italian journalist said: “I expect this deal to happen.”
He added that negotiations are going on between Chelsea and United over the 21-year-old’s valuation.
Further, Garnacho is understood to have made his mind up over a move to Stamford Bridge, having turned down approaches from Italy and Saudi Arabia. The Argentine is “waiting” for the London outfit.
Meanwhile, United are also open to listening to offers for Rasmus Hojlund, who has attracted interest from AC Milan.
Having said that, the Denmark international remains keen on fighting for his place at Old Trafford despite Benjamin Sesko’s arrival.
