Roma boss Gian Piero Gasperini praised his team following the Giallorossi’s 1-1 result against Milan at the Stadio Olimpico.
“Indeed, when Milan go ahead it’s difficult, they’re dangerous on the counterattack. Losing this match would have been a mockery, if we had taken the lead we could have won it.”
“Another striker? Malen is great there. He’s extraordinary, and the more he plays, the better he’ll be. Today, Milan closed on him, but he’s done extraordinary things. He had a great opportunity that barely missed, but he’s a great signing.”
“We’re a very young team, with the Under-20s up to the first Under-25. We’ll have a very strong spring team for the finals. The standings say Milan is the second-best team, but we’ll come out strong.”
“Our tight pressing? This is a credit to the team. Milan has speedsters like Leao and Pulisic and is always a dangerous team. It’s no coincidence that I’ve seen Milan win games when they were pressed. I have an extraordinary defense that has applied itself very well.”
“I want to mention Ghilardi’s performance and growth. Not just tonight, but also in the Europa League against Stuttgart. He’s grown exponentially; at the start of the season, he was alternating quality with ill-timed tackles. He’s definitely matured now and has more balance. It’s the same with young players, and after 4-5-6 months, development is important.”
