Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini discussed the team’s defeat to Milan and Paulo Dybala’s injury at San Siro earlier tonight.
“Tonight I find it hard to look for something that didn’t work out. I prefer to look at what did work out, and I truly believe in many things.”
“We created a lot, and that’s the way to go. When you come away from these games, you’re very disappointed about the result, but we’re confident.”
“Tonight we made a qualitative leap, except in our finishing. We played a first half with great character, against a strong team. We created a lot and struggled after their goal. I’m struggling to find any negatives.”
“We’re angry and disappointed about the result, but unfortunately, penalties and chances were missed, but the team played in different ways. There are many games within the same match, and we played them all well.”
“Dybala? The worst thing, aside from the penalty, is the injury he sustained while taking it. We’ll have to see when he recovers, certainly after the break. It’s a shame because he was having a great run of games, like the great player he is. This is the biggest loss tonight.”
“We definitely need to improve on some crucial things. The team is performing well on the pitch and is playing more situations. It’s a shame that we missed four out of five penalties, which have cost us a lot in the league and in Europe. Many teams still manage to pull off a late attacking situation where they secure points.”
“Many teams resort to this, and compared to the big teams, we lack these things: penalties and the ability to win when you dominate for so long.”
