Incoming Lazio coach Gennaro Gattuso is already drawing up his list of keepers and potential departures, with Mattia Zaccagni understood to be a cornerstone of his plans while Matteo Cancellieri’s future at the club remains uncertain.
According to Il Messaggero, via LaLazioSiamoNoi, Gattuso has identified Gustav Isaksen as his preferred option on the right flank, a decision that would effectively make Cancellieri surplus to requirements.
The Calabrian coach is said to have no objection to the young Italian leaving this summer, despite Isaksen’s controversial refusal to come off the bench on the final day of the season against Pisa.
However, Corriere dello Sport offers a conflicting take, suggesting Cancellieri remains under observation due to certain characteristics that have caught Gattuso’s eye.
The contradictory nature of the reports leaves the future in a state of genuine uncertainty, with both wingers perhaps best placed in the undecided category until Gattuso makes his intentions clearer once formally installed.

Cancellieri’s situation will attract outside attention regardless.
Brentford were strongly linked with a move for the former Hellas Verona winger in January, though a deal ultimately failed to materialise.
Should Lazio decide to sell, the Bees could return with a concrete offer this summer for a player who still has considerable potential at 24.
Zaccagni, by contrast, is considered untouchable, a key figure around whom Gattuso intends to build his Lazio project from the outset.
