La Gazzetta dello Sport suggests Gennaro Gattuso wants to bring former Roma player Nicolo Zaniolo to Lazio this summer, with the 26-year-old embroiled in a salary dispute at Udinese.

The 19-cap Italy international is unhappy with his current terms after accepting a lower wage late last summer to push through a move, dropping from 3m at Galatasaray to 1.2m at Udinese. He expected a renegotiation once the switch became permanent, which has not happened, leaving him bitterly disappointed.

Udinese have now signed Zaniolo permanently from Galatasaray after his 2025-26 loan, paying a reported 5m. Galatasaray reportedly retain a 50% sell-on clause.

Lazio have explored Zaniolo before, though his Roma past made a move unlikely. Gattuso is an admirer and Zaniolo could now be open to the idea.

Udinese do not wish to sell despite the stand-off. It would take at least 18m-20m to persuade them to sell.
