If Saint-Étienne go up this season, Gautier Larsonneur’s salary would be multiplied by four. According to L'Équipe, the goalkeeper and club captain has a promotion clause that dramatically increases his pay.
Saint-Étienne are second in Ligue two with six matches remaining, so a return to the top flight is plausible.
After his previous contract expired on 30 June last year, Larsonneur signed a two-year extension in September to 30 June 2028. The clause would lift his gross monthly wage from €30,000 in Ligue two to €120,000 in Ligue one.
The salary picture follows wider cuts at the club, with Lucas Stassin’s pay declining after relegation at the end of the 2024-2025 campaign.
New coach Philippe Montanier’s terms are less eye-catching. He would receive a €150,000 promotion bonus, the same as Olivier Dall’Oglio received in 2024, and his deal would extend by one year with his salary rising from €30,000 to €70,000 gross per month.
