Gautier Lloris has yet to answer Le Havre’s three-year extension, with his deal up in June. The centre-back returns to his hometown Nice at 17:15 on Sunday, which could be his last visit with Le Havre.
According to L'Équipe, he arrived free in July 2022, helped win Ligue 2 then secure Ligue 1 survival, and has been a mainstay for Luka Elsner and Didier Digard.
He extended in 2023 to 2026. The new offer runs three more years, carries relegation adjustments, and would raise his pay from about €35,000 gross per month to around €40,000 if they stay up, near Le Havre’s top bracket.
Turning 31 on 18 July and having known unemployment, he has said this may be his last big contract, so money and the sporting plan both count, while insisting focus stays on the pitch.
He hurt a hamstring at Rennes on 18 January, 1-1, then suffered a setback at Brest on 8 March, 0-2. Digard has suggested the contract context and stakes might be on his mind amid recurring niggles.
Close to elder brother Hugo at Los Angeles FC, he has discussed his future with him. MLS clubs have enquired and some around the player feel his aerial and positional strengths could suit Serie A.
He impressed on return against Auxerre, 1-1, and wants safety secured quickly before deciding. He could score again in Nice as he did at the Allianz Riviera last season, though Le Havre lost 1-2 that day. Arouna Sangante’s departure to Sevilla is already agreed.
