Gavi & Pedri the latest Barcelona pair to reach out to Andrés Iniesta after retirement | OneFootball

Barcelona midfield pair Gavi and Pedri have on Tuesday forwarded respective messages of well-wishes to club legend Andrés Iniesta.

This, of course, comes after the latter announced his decision to hang up his boots.

Without a club following the expiration of his contract with UAE-based outfit Emirates Club over the summer, Iniesta, now 40, recently made the call to bring the curtain down on his legendary career.

With the former Spanish international one of the most beloved players of his generation – revered for both his ability on the pitch and down to earth nature off it – messages of admiration have in turn since come absolutely flooding in.

Over the course of the last 24 hours, Iniesta has received well-wishes from a whole host of figures from across the football landscape.

And, as alluded to above, this evening, two current members of the engine room ranks at Barcelona added their respective names to the list.

First, in a post on his official Instagram account, Gavi wrote:

‘Thank you for everything you gave to football Don Andrés! Legend!’

And midfield partner Pedri soon followed suit, with his own Instagram post:

‘Thank you for making the dream of an entire nation come true. Thank you for being a role model on and off the field. Thank you for your interest and concern for me.’
