According to Het Nieuwsblad, Gent are in pursuit of Ludogorets’ Brazilian forward Rwan Cruz. While they have a number of targets for the forward position, it is understood that head coach Wouter Vrancken is keen on the striker who ended up replacing former Club Brugge striker Thiago. Cruz joined the Bulgarian side in the summer of 2023 and went on to score 19 goals in 50 games during his first season. In 32 appearances this year he has scored 11 goals in 32 games. The striker has previously played for Santos FC and Vasco da Gama.
Sacha Tavolieri is reporting that, while Vrancken is keen on Cruz, the recruiting team would rather go for Dante Vanzeir. The former Union St Gilloise striker is said to be open to leaving the MLS and returning to Belgium. Gent’s recruitment team believe that he is a more like for like replacement for the injured Max Dean. It also appears that Vanzeir could be the cheaper option, with Cruz asking for more money than the club anticipated.
