Celtic FC Women took home a share of the spoils in the Glasgow derby, fighting back to seal a point in a 1-1 draw against Rangers.
After falling behind inside the opening ten minutes, the Ghirls finally found a response through Amy Gallacher who made an instant impact off the bench to secure a draw at Broadwood.
Following the completion of the April international break, and 16 days after they were last in action, the Hoops returned to league duties.
With eight games remaining, Elena Sadiku’s side returned with a huge Glasgow derby, making the short trip to Broadwood.
It was an even opening stages between the two sides, with both teams looking to feel their way into the game after returning from the break.
However, it was the home side who would strike first through Kirsty Howat, who provided an early opener with a finish into the top corner.
Having lost an early goal, it could have been easy for the Hoops to let their heads drop. However, instead, they went on to create arguably the better opportunities of the opening 45 minutes.
Kit Loferski was looking to use her pace to her advantage, breaking down the right-hand side, and sending a handful of crosses into the area for Noonan to chase. But they were just too much for the Irish forward.
Noonan didn’t have to wait long for her first opening of the match as a corner made its way to the Celtic number 20.
As she looked to swipe the ball home on her weak foot, it went just wide of the target.
Chances would also fall the way of Celya Barclais and Maria McAneny, but some latch ditch defending by the home side denied the Hoops a first half equaliser.
The Celts carried that momentum into the beginning of the second half, with Lucy Ashworth-Clifford enjoying plenty of joy down the left.
The winger sent a number of dangerous deliveries into the box, either going just wide of the target or ahead of her teammates, though.
It was a strong first Glasgow derby showing from midfielder, Momo Nakoa, who almost set Saoirse Noonan up for a chance with a nice reverse pass inside the area. But it just ran away from the forward.
With just over 20 minutes remaining in the match, Sadiku looked to make changes to her side to find a way back in.
One of those being Amy Gallacher, who made an almost instant impact off the bench, scoring to level up the scoring.
A well worked move found its way to Emma Lawton on the right-hand side, who picked her head up and found Gallacher on the edge, with the Celtic number seven confidently dispatching the ball into the net.
Heading into the closing stages, the Ghirls continued to push for a winner, with a number of free kicks in dangerous areas.
However, they couldn’t do enough to find the back of the net, taking home a point from their visit to Broadwood.
The Hoops will look to build on that point when they return to New Douglas Park this Wednesday evening, taking on Hibs.
