Right-back Agustín Giay, 22, has been called up by Argentina to cover Gonzalo Montiel’s absence.
The federation announced on its official channels that Palmeiras’ Agustín Giay has been added for the two friendlies.
It is his first opportunity with the senior side, and he could push for a 2026 World Cup place if he impresses against Mauritania and Zambia.
Giay began his professional career in 2022 with San Lorenzo. In 2024 he joined Palmeiras in Brazil, long regarded as one of the continent’s leading teams.
Argentina’s first training session is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
