Hans Gillhaus, Valencia’s new head of European scouting, has put Justin De Haas forward, and the club are negotiating with the defender’s camp over an immediate move after receiving Corberán’s approval.
According to Superdeporte, Gillhaus presented De Haas to Corberán and the coach gave the green light because his profile fits, dominant in the air at 194 cm and left footed.
The centre-back’s Famalicao contract expires in June, so the Portuguese club would accept a fee now or he will be free then. He has been a regular this season with 17 appearances across league and the Portuguese Cup, scoring 3 goals.
Gillhaus, a Dutchman, previously worked as a scout at PSV Eindhoven in two spells, the latest from 2021, and is a specialist in his home market. De Haas spent several seasons with PSV’s reserve side before moving to Lokomotiva Zagreb.
De Haas’s candidacy is notable because Corberán has rejected many other options put forward by the technical department. The coach has also demanded that all available funds, plus the FPF margin freed by Diakhaby, be used to strengthen the squad.
