During this preseason, one of the most prominent FC Barcelona youth academy players has been the midfielder Brian Farinas. The youngster has impressed Hansi Flick so much that the German coach is looking to incorporate him into his first team.

In fact, in the beginning of July, the youngster was close to departing the Catalan club. Girona were looking primed to take 50% of his rights and land him for €1.5 million. However, the Blaugrana coach intervened after the injury to Frenkie de Jong was confirmed, and blocked this transfer, as he asked his club to give him more time to assess the young player during the tour of England.

Now, with the team set to depart for the United Kingdom today, a report from Mundo Deportivo claims that Girona have not given up on Farinas, and will be keeping a close eye on the player as he trains and plays under Hansi Flick in England.

As things stand, Barcelona are very satisfied with the youngster, and Deco has already held several meetings with his agent, Borja Garcia, to determine what the best course should be for his future.

However, the ultimate decision will lie with Hansi Flick, who will decide whether to promote Farinas or find another way to replace the injured Dutchman in his squad, who is not expected to return to availability until the end of this year or the start of the next year.
