Serge Gnabry’s future at FC Bayern remains uncertain. The attacking player’s contract runs until the summer of 2026 and an extension is anything but certain. Bayern are prepared in principle to extend their contract with the DFB star, but only under clear conditions – above all financially.

According to BILD, Gnabry will have to accept a significant reduction in salary in return for a new contract. The 30-year-old currently earns around €17 million per year, making him one of the top earners at Säbener Straße.

Gnabry in strong form – Bayern still cautious

In sporting terms, Gnabry is currently making a convincing case. After a difficult year and numerous injury setbacks, the attacking all-rounder has made an impressive comeback under Vincent Kompany. In 15 competitive games, he has scored eight times and has established himself as Musiala’s replacement, particularly in the role behind the strikers.

His strong form has led to internal discussions: extend or let go? While sporting director Max Eberl and sporting director Christoph Freund are very positive about his development, Bayern bosses agree that a contract extension is only an option with a performance-related salary.

Juve and Liverpool show interest

As reported by the Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus Turin have already taken action. The Italians are said to have made an exploratory inquiry to Gnabry’s management. Particularly appealing: the attacker would be available on a free transfer in the summer of 2026.

However, the clubs are already examining their options – and Liverpool FC are also said to be keeping an eye on the Bayern professional, according to the report. However, both Juve and Liverpool have so far been put off by the international’s high salary demands.

Bayern set priorities with Upamecano

Gnabry is not a priority for Bayern at the moment. The contract extension with Dayot Upamecano is to be concluded first before any other personnel matters are dealt with. According to BILD, there have been no talks between the club and the player to date.

As with Leroy Sané, Munich want to remain consistent with Gnabry: If no agreement is reached, a transfer-free departure would not be taboo.
