Go Ahead Eagles: Adekanye and Amofa heading for the door

As per reports from Voetbal Internationals’s Sander Janssen, Bobby Adekanye and Jamal Amofa look set to depart Go Ahead Eagles.

The 25-year-old Adekanye has been left out of the squad for the match against Fortuna Sittard on Friday, as he continues talks with a potential new club. The right winger lost his starting spot to Oliver Antman earlier this season and now has little prospect of playing time.

Head coach Paul Simonis says it would be better for both parties if Adekanye made a move this winter, bringing an end to three seasons in Deventer:

“Bobby wants to leave and it is a good time for him to go. (…) It is good for both parties if he spreads his wings.”

Jamal Amofa’s case is similar to Adekanye’s, having lost his starting spot to Gerrit Nauber. Initially, Go Ahead had blocked the centre-back’s loan move to sc Heerenveen. However, the club are now prepared to let the 26-year-old go.

His status as a GAE player was further doubt hindered by his continued personal issues. He was recently convicted of domestic violence and sentenced by the judge to 100 hours of community service, of which forty hours were conditional.

No concrete offers have yet been received for the defender. Like Adekanye, Amofa extended his contract last summer until the summer of 2027.

Two players Go Ahead won’t be prepared to let go are Evert Linthorst and Oliver Edvardsen. Both players are contracted until the end of the season, but Simonis and co. plan to exercise the option to extend their respective deals by one year through to the summer of 2026.
