SpG Südburgenland/TSV Hartberg 2-5 FC Red Bull Salzburg Women (H/T:0-1). Goals: Gröller (66'), Sipos (81') - Grabovac (25'), G. Spinn (51'), Schimm (78'), Krassnig (86'), Hamzic (90+3')
FC Red Bull Salzburg women only made their dominance count in the final phases against Spielgemeinschaft. Emily Schimm, Tina Krassnig and Aldina Hamzic all scored their first goals as our side took a deserved 5-2 win.
Stegersbach is located only 262 metres above sea level - almost nothing by Austrian standards - but it was a remarkably up and down encounter. Our team set the tone right from the start; two Crnoja shots were blocked by a thicket of defensive legs, and the angle of a Grabovac effort was a bit too sharp. Emelie Kobler also came up short in a one-on-one.
The long-due lead did arrive: Sophia Schirmbrand crossed into the center following a corner, where Sara Grabovac headed it in – as our tireless winger made it 1-0 (25').
The fact that the half-time lead wasn't even more comfortable was due to the woodwork – which Julia Grünwald found it with an acrobatic effort from the far post – and home goalkeeper Fazekas, who excelled against Vina Crnoja.
The goals did come though, as Valentina Lutz sent Greta Spinn on her way. The Tyrolean shook off Rozmis and finished with a shot inside the near post (51')! However, as Pavlovic's crew continued to miss great opportunities, hope suddenly resurfaced for the South Burgenlanders: Gröller broke through on the right flank, but goalkeeper Lara Ritter, making her first appearance of the season today, and Valentina Lutz together couldn't prevent the equalizer (66').
We responded extremely quickly to that: Vina Crnoja fired the ball forward, substitute Emily Schimm headed alone against Fazekas and converted coolly – 3-1 (78'). Even though the hosts came back again, with Sipos scoring (81'), there would only be one winner: First, Tina Krassnig slalomed through the penalty area, fooled two opponents, and beat Fazekas (86'), then Aldina Hamzic headed in from a set piece to make it 5-2 (90'+3').
We therefore leave Stegersbach with all three points in the bag!
It's a very important win for us! Not only because of the points, but also because of the way we played: with a lot of energy, courage, and passion. The team handled the setbacks really well during the phases in which we conceded. Ultimately, we could have scored four or five more goals – we hit the post twice and the crossbar once. It was a truly commanding win, which will do us good for the coming weeks, especially because we've been through a difficult period. We needed this win!
