The Golden Foot Awards will reintroduce a public vote in 2026, ending a suspension since the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to Nice-Matin, organisers have opened the voting process for the 2026 edition, expected in Monaco between late October and mid-November under the patronage of Prince Albert II.
Created in 2003, the prize recognises male and female players aged at least 27 in the latter stages or second half of their careers, and it can be won only once.
Beyond the trophy, winners leave their footprints on the seafront Champions Promenade in Monaco, joining more than 140 greats including Diego Maradona, Pelé, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and Antoine Griezmann.
For 2026, selection will run in two stages. Accredited international media receive a 30-player longlist for both men and women from the Golden Foot commission, then reduce each to 15 finalists.
Those finalists will then be put to a global ballot on the official Golden Foot platform, enabling supporters worldwide to choose the 2026 laureates.
