Goretzka’s successor: Bayern watching England talent

The personnel upheaval at FC Bayern continues to take shape. Leon Goretzka’s departure in the summer of 2026 is a done deal, but the question of his successor remains open. Now a new name has emerged that is said to have aroused interest at Säbener Straße: Archie Gray

As the portal SportsBoom reports, Munich are keeping a close eye on the 19-year-old midfielder from Tottenham Hotspur. Real Madrid are also said to have their eye on the top English talent. So the competition is strong – and expensive

Gray is regarded as one of England’s most exciting young talents. Although he has recently been increasingly deployed in central midfield, his versatility makes him particularly valuable. He can play on the right flank and even help out in central defence. It is precisely this flexible profile that is said to be attracting great interest from both FC Bayern and Real Madrid

At just 19 years of age, Gray already has considerable experience. 44 appearances in the Championship, 45 games in the Premier League and appearances in the Europa League and Champions League underline his development. For a player of his age, that is exceptional

But a potential transfer is likely to be complicated. According to SportsBoom, Spurs have put a price tag of around 60 million euros on their youngster. And even this sum might not be enough. Tottenham boss Daniel Levy is said to classify Gray internally as „unsellable“ and has already rejected several inquiries from England

The U21 international’s contract runs until 2030 – another trump card in London’s negotiating strategy

Bayern rather cautious?

Such a sum hardly seems realistic for FC Bayern at present. Although the Munich club are looking for a central midfielder with development potential, economic sense continues to play a central role in transfer planning

Gray fits the bill perfectly in terms of his profile: young, capable of development and able to play in several positions – attributes that are highly prized at Säbener Strasse. However, it is doubtful whether Bayern are prepared to venture into these financial dimensions

One thing is certain: the market for top talent is highly competitive, and if Tottenham really do insist on a pain threshold above the 60 million mark, Munich’s interest is likely to remain an observer for the time being.
