Is the 2025 NWSL season starting to change for the better? Fans will surely hope so after the Bats continued their fantastic CONCACAF W Champions Cup form, which might be bleeding into the NWSL form. The team has recently won games against the Orlando Pride and Angel City FC.

In addition, there have been some player moves and a rumored trade that will help the Bats immensely. So, here is the latest Gotham FC news roundup.

Princess Ademiluyi's loan move

Gotham FC supporters have an answer about the club's plans with recently signed Princess Ademiluyi. The team announced that the English player will head out on loan to Fort Lauderdale United FC. She joins teammate Stella Nyamekye, who is also out on loan with the Florida team.

Ademiluyi's loan will last until the end of the year, but could be extended until the end of the Super League season in May. She could be recalled for the 2026 FIFA Women’s Champions Cup.

This is a smart decision by Gotham FC. It gives their new player the opportunity to earn minutes and continue her development. Plus, with a fight for the playoffs, it means the Bats do not have to worry about Ademiluyi adjusting to the NWSL. So, fans will see her one day, but not yet.

Nealy Martin is traded

In case one missed it yesterday, Nealy Martin is leaving Gotham FC. The player was traded to Angel City FC, a match in which she missed over the weekend. With some players like Rose Lavelle and Midge Purce healthy again, Martin's playing time appeared to be in jeopardy. It was still surprising, though, that she was traded away with a couple of months left in the season when she would have been a critical contributor.

It stinks since she was a fan favorite. However, Martin's move might be making way for a new addition to Gotham.

The big Gotham FC rumor

As always, a rumor or report is just a rumor or report until a team confirms the addition of a player. For Gotham FC, the big report is that Jaedyn Shaw is joining the club. According to Jeff Kassouf of ESPN, the North Carolina Courage is trading the 20-year-old to the Bats for $1.25 million. If the amount is correct, then this would break the intra-league record.
