Granit Xhaka expected to stay at Sunderland

Sunderland are expected to keep hold of influential midfielder Granit Xhaka despite interest elsewhere.

The Black Cats were a surprise package in the league last season, finishing seventh to reach the Europa League. Swiss international Xhaka was a major part of that, featuring in 36 games for his side all season, chipping in with one goal and six assists.

Xhaka's performances had led to interest from Chelsea who reportedly already had a bid turned down for the player earlier this summer.

However, according to Sky Sports News, they are extremely unlikely to sign Xhaka now with the player reportedly committing his future to the club who are also unwilling to let their star player leave.
