As the Italian national team undergo a major change after their shocking loss to Bosnia, Gabriele Gravina has resigned as FIGC president. With Gigi Buffon also having left, Rino Gattuso could be next in line to depart.

Having said that, how Calcio operates come down to who runs it. Gravina witnessed two major failures under his tenure and a replacement is now being sought.

Tuttomercatoweb take a look at who can become the next FIGC president, with Giovanni Malago the favourite to take over the role. He has previously been the president of the Italian Olympics committee, boasting quite a bit of experience in sports administration.

Giancarlo Abete is also a candidate, with the Italian having been a close aid of Gravina during his time at the federation.

Interestingly, Inter CEO Beppe Marotta is also a candidate. A move for him won’t be easy because of his current contract but he would add a footballing brain to the entire setup.

Umberto Gandini can also be a candidate, having worked at both Roma and Milan. He has excellent relations with many clubs and with many at FIGC and this can become important, with the elections set to be held on June 22nd.
