Grêmio agree deal to sign Matheus Nascimento from Botafogo | OneFootball

Grêmio have agreed a deal to sign Matheus Nascimento from Botafogo.

According to Globo.com, the centre-forward’s loan at LA Galaxy runs until the end of June and he remains under contract with the Rio club until the end of December. Botafogo are expected to rescind his deal so he can sign for Grêmio, and intend to keep a percentage of his economic rights.

The 22-year-old came through Botafogo’s academy and worked with coach Luís Castro in 2023. He moved to the United States in March 2025 after a lack of opportunities in Brazil.

For LA Galaxy he made 38 appearances, scoring seven goals and providing three assists. This season he has featured in 10 games, coming on as a substitute in nine, and scored once.

He is expected to arrive in Porto Alegre on Tuesday for medical tests. Nascimento would reinforce a forward line recently weakened by the sale of André Henrique to Goztepe of Türkiye.
