Grêmio beat Deportivo Palestino 2-0 at Arena do Grêmio in the Copa Sudamericana on Wednesday. They now turn to a Brasileirão meeting with Santos in Porto Alegre on Saturday.

According to Diario Do Peixe, the weekend clash is a direct battle in Série A. Kick-off is at 19:00 in round 17.

The sides are level on 18 points with identical records of four wins, six draws and six defeats, separated only by goal difference. Santos have scored 21 and conceded 25, while Grêmio have 16 for and 18 against.

Both also have an eye on Corinthians, who are on 18 points and are the highest-placed side in the relegation zone. Corinthians visit Atlético-MG.

Santos need an away win and will also be hoping Corinthians lose to put more distance between themselves and the relegation places. Grêmio arrive in better Sudamericana form.

In Group F, Grêmio are second on 10 points and already through. They face leaders Torque, who have 12, in the final round, and a win could seal direct passage to the round of 16.
