According to Globo.com, Luís Castro’s Grêmio fell 3-1 to Corinthians at the Arena, a comeback defeat capped by another poor collective display that left few players with credit, in the 18th round of the Brasileirão.
Gabriel Mec opened the scoring, finishing a rebound after Carlos Vinícius’s shot, a move that began with Viery’s interception on Matheuzinho. An error from Viery preceded the visitors’ equaliser, then Kaio César struck in the second half after beating the centre-back.
On his professional debut, Thiago Beltrame saved from Yuri Alberto and Garro, then was sent off for bringing down Matheus Bidu as he broke into the box. Gabriel Menegon came on at 3-1 and immediately tipped away a Garro free-kick.
Arthur Melo impressed in the opening 20 minutes with movement and discipline, but faded and failed to cut out André at the start of the move for the turnaround goal. Marcos Rocha offered little attacking thrust and was exposed defensively, while Pedro Gabriel struggled against Kaio César and Matheuzinho and with set pieces.
Tetê threatened from the left but the flank lacked defensive cover. Enamorado injected energy, and one ball recovery led to a rare second-half danger. Carlos Vinícius was lively early with three efforts, one leading to Mec’s goal and another after the break blocked, before fading after midway through the second half.
Braithwaite’s movement brought little end product and he failed to finish when chances arrived, while Amuzu made little impact and André up front did little wrong. Castro’s initial selections worked, but he found no solutions as the side produced a shameful second half.
