Grêmio reclaim Campeonato Gaúcho, cut Internacional’s lead in title haul

Grêmio sealed the 2026 Campeonato Gaúcho, drawing 1-1 at Beira-Rio on Sunday after a 3-0 first-leg win at the Arena. The result returned the state crown to the Tricolor after one season.

According to Globo.com, the triumph is their 44th and trims the gap to rivals Internacional, who top the all-time list with 46.

Guarany de Bagé are the only other side with more than one title, with two secured across the 1920s and 1930s.

Single-time winners are Brasil de Pelotas, Grêmio Bagé, Americano (Porto Alegre), Cruzeiro (Porto Alegre), Pelotas, São Paulo (Rio Grande), Farroupilha, Rio Grande, Grêmio Santanense, Riograndense (Rio Grande), Renner (Porto Alegre), Juventude, Caxias and Novo Hamburgo.

The roll of honour stretches from Brasil de Pelotas in 1919 to Grêmio in 2026.
