Grêmio tell Willian he is not in plans for second half of year | OneFootball

Grêmio have informed Willian he is not in their plans for the second half of the year. The 37-year-old midfielder remains under contract until the end of 2026 and can now sign a pre-contract with another club.

GZH reported the decision. Willian has played nine Brasileirão matches for Grêmio and can still move to another Série A side, the limit is 12 appearances.

His most recent outing was the 2-1 defeat at Mirassol at the Maião on 17 July. He came on at half-time in that fixture, the 19th round of the Brasileiro.

Signed in September 2025, Willian has made 28 appearances for Grêmio, scoring two goals and providing five assists.

On Monday the club announced Croatian midfielder Filip Krovinovic, further tightening competition in his position. The group for that role also includes Gabriel Mec, Monsalve and Riquelme.

By Tuesday afternoon there was no decision on how Willian’s training schedule would look following the call.
