Atlético de Madrid are in negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen left-back Alejandro Grimaldo, with all signs pointing to a return to Spain.
Fabrizio Romano reports that the 30-year-old has a verbal agreement with Atlético. He is keen to come back to LaLiga and his Leverkusen contract runs to 2027.

Atlético switched to plan B after Marc Cucurella, their first-choice target, signed for Real Madrid. Talks with Grimaldo have moved forward, and Leverkusen would be willing to accept a proposal that eases his exit.
Grimaldo is valued at around 20 million euros, though he could depart for close to 10 million.
If completed, the deal would address Atlético’s need at left-back.
