‘Grumpy’ Arsenal star’s return from injury ‘within reach’ | OneFootball

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard could make his return from injury after the international break. 

The midfielder has been recovering from a knee issue he sustained in the 1-1 draw with Brentford on 12th February. Although he was involved in the win over Tottenham Hotspur three days later, he has been sidelined ever since.

Odegaard has not been called up for Norway’s friendlies against Netherlands or Switzerland during the March international window, but national team manager Stale Solbakken believes the 27-year-old should be back for Arsenal‘s next game. The Gunners face Southampton in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup on 4th April.

“Now it’s three weeks until Arsenal play again. Or two and a half weeks,” Solbakken said from Norway’s camp.

“I think it could be a goal for Martin to be in a squad then. It’s within reach.

“There is no reason for him to travel now. He has to train. If he wants to use a day off to come here, he is welcome to do so. But it is not something that has been planned.”

Solbakken added that Odegaard has been left “very frustrated and grumpy” by his injury problems this season, which have limited him to just 13 starts in the Premier League.

“He has not been involved since we beat Moldova 11-1 (in September),” he said. “It is his last international match.

“He was not on the field against Israel, Estonia or Italy. It is clear that it hurts.”

Meanwhile, Eberechi Eze could miss over a month of action after suffering a calf injury against Bayer Leverkusen last week.
