Pep Guardiola says he is “so grumpy” with Bernardo Silva because he has not told him whether he’s leaving Manchester City or not.

The midfielder has reportedly informed the club that he intends on leaving when his contract expires this summer, but there has been no official confirmation of his decision.

Barcelona and Juventus have both been linked with a free transfer for the 31-year-old in the summer.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Chelsea, Guardiola claimed he was none the wiser to his captain’s intentions.

When asked on Friday if he could confirm Silva will leave City at the end of the season, Guardiola responded: “I do not know. I am so grumpy with Bernardo, because a month ago I said I had to be the first for him to tell me and he didn’t say anything to me yet.

“I do not know if he has already decided. I said jokingly to him to tell me, I deserve it, but he didn’t tell me. I do not know what is going on.”

Silva has been a key cog in City’s phenomenal success over the past nine years, winning six Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League since joining from Monaco in 2017.

“He is really good in all departments,” Guardiola said. “He plays a lot of games. Nine years we have been together and no injuries. He can play in different positions, he is so smart and reads every moment that the action and game requires. When you play a lot of games, it gives us a lot of trust and confidence how he is going to perform.”

Guardiola added that he wishes Silva could finish his career at City. “He has been an incredible signing for us, incredible. I love this club and I would love if he could stay and finish his career here but I do not know. He will decide what he will decide. It is his decision.”
