Pep Guardiola confirmed that Rodri and Jeremy Doku could be available against Sunderland, but Oscar Bobb and John Stones are still out.
Rodri has not featured in any of City’s last eight Premier League matches through a hamstring injury but was on the bench against Nottingham Forest and Doku has missed the last three with a muscle injury.
Meanwhile, Bobb has missed the last six with a hamstring injury and Stones has missed the last four with a muscle injury. Guardiola gave updates on all of their fitness.
When asked who will be fit for the Sunderland clash, Guardiola said: “Rodri has come back, maybe he can play a few minutes, looking forward to it desperately. Doku maybe, John and Oscar no.”
Manchester City have reportedly been linked with a transfer for Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth. City were reluctant to sell any forwards last summer with Guardiola’s side reportedly rejecting a bid from Tottenham for Savinho.
The Spaniard was asked about the transfer of Semenyo and any possible outgoings: “The transfer window is completely closed right now,” he said.
City face Sunderland in the Premier League as they aim to stay close to Arsenal who beat Aston Villa comfortably this midweek.
“We faced them a few weeks ago, they have had an incredible season,” he said. “After being promoted you can continue with the same group or do what they have done and it is not easy to adapt and Regis has done it really well.”
“Tomorrow is the last game of the first leg, without playing against Chelsea, being in this position speaks for itself.”
