Tottenham Hotspur target Savinho will not be moving to London this summer, according to talkSPORT.

Man City manager Pep Guardiola has closed the door to a potential departure.

The Brazilian winger, who impressed in his first season with Man City, had been linked with a £50 million move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Missing out on Savinho is a blow for Tottenham. Described by Guardiola as a player with ‘incredible ability’, he averaged 0.5 assists and created 2.3 chances per 90 minutes last term.

His numbers far outshine most of Tottenham’s current wide options.

His ability to take on defenders was impressive, completing 2.7 take-ons per game – a level of directness Spurs have often lacked.

By comparison, Brennan Johnson managed just 0.8 chance creations and 0.8 take-ons per game.

Kubo is an option for Spurs

Tottenham should turn their attention to Takefusa Kubo after missing out on Savinho.

The Japanese international has become one of La Liga’s most exciting wide forwards since joining Real Sociedad in July 2022, tormenting defenders with his pace, flair and close control.

The 24-year-old is entering his prime and offers the kind of direct dribbling and creativity Spurs need to replace the spark Savinho could have provided.

He recorded seven goals and four assists in 52 appearances across all competitions last season and has already opened his account this term.

Kubo’s versatility and ability to break down low blocks make him an ideal target to improve Tottenham’s forward line.
