Guedes has been recalled by Portugal for the first time since 2022, taking the number of Real Sociedad players on international duty to 10. According to Diario Vasco, Carlos Soler is also back with Spain and Ander Barrenetxea has received his first senior call-up, leaving Pellegrino Matarazzo with a reduced group next week.
Over the next 10 days the call-ups are Guedes (Portugal), Mikel Oyarzabal, Álex Remiro, Soler and Barrenetxea (Spain), Jon Martín (Spain Under-21), Luka Sucic and Duje Caleta-Car (Croatia), Orri Óskarsson (Iceland) and Jon Mikel Aramburu (Venezuela).
Guedes will cross the Atlantic with Portugal for friendlies against Mexico and the United States. It is his first call under Roberto Martínez since 2022, while Cristiano Ronaldo misses out through injury.
Oyarzabal, Remiro, Soler and debutant Barrenetxea are in Spain’s squad for friendlies against Serbia and Egypt in Villarreal and Barcelona. Martín remains with the Under-21s, who face fixtures in Cyprus and Alcalá de Henares.
Aramburu’s Venezuela head to Uzbekistan to play Trinidad and Tobago and the hosts. Sucic and Caleta-Car travel to the United States for friendlies with Colombia and Brazil, while Óskarsson’s Iceland visit Toronto to face Canada and Haiti.
Arsen Zakharyan was on Russia’s preliminary list but is not among the 31 for games against Nicaragua and Mali. Take Kubo will remain at Zubieta after the club and Japan agreed that recovery work there was the best plan.
