Valencia have narrowed focus exclusively to Guido Rodríguez, elevating his signing from priority to indispensable. The club remain prepared to go the distance to build their 26/27 project around him, with Ron Gourlay and Carlos Corberán still hopeful.

O JOGO reports that his future at Benfica is increasingly uncertain, and that the Lisbon club are open to a transfer, seen as prohibitive for Valencia, or a loan with some form of obligation to buy, while seeking to recover much of the 15 million invested after signing him from Aston Villa.

Inside Mestalla there is a clear view that his profile is ideal to lead the midfield next season, bringing leadership, experience and knowledge of the dressing room and LaLiga. Corberán has spoken with him and keeps stressing he would remain a reference point for the team.

The Argentine is settled in the city with his family and feels valued by the club, his team-mates and supporters.

Even so, competition for his signature is strong and chasing bigger objectives, a major financial effort is required and that may still not be enough. Guido is in no rush to decide and the final word is his.

For now Valencia wait rather than move for alternatives. They are informed on options such as Enzo Barrenechea, but at present it is Guido or nothing.
